InstructureCon 2021: Exciting Events to Anticipate
Unicon and Instructure are close partners. We work together with the Instructure team to offer support services, participate in joint projects, and collaborate in support of offering the best services to our clients. It is refreshing to work with the Instructure team where our professional relationship revolves around providing the best service to our clients.
InstructureCon Online 2021 is happening Thursday, October 7th and in previewing the agenda, a few sessions stand out to me as particularly interesting based on the type of work we do for our clients.
Canvas Data2 is the next generation of Canvas Data. In this new release, Instructure will be addressing feedback collected from their clients over the years. This includes challenges with respect to data latency, providing new data sets that include LTI information, quizzes, calendar events, and so much more. Many Unicon clients are eagerly awaiting the release of Canvas Data2, and as an Instructure service partner, we are positioned to help them make use of the new data sets and realize their data vision and goals. I am looking forward to hearing from Edina on the progress of Canvas Data2 and the pending release schedule.
The title of this session alone resonated with me as I work closely with Unicon clients to gather meaningful insights to their data, and ensure they are in a position to take action on that data. Unicon helps our clients to define and adopt an overarching data strategy. This includes centralized data collection, normalization, interpretation, and visualization. We have partnered with several teams at Stanford over the years, assisting with everything from data readiness to infrastructure and identity, and I am looking forward to hearing updates on how they are making their Canvas data actionable for stakeholders. I hope to learn more from their case studies on how Canvas data is being utilized in support of their pedagogical goals.
It’s no secret that Unicon is closely aligned with IMS Global, participating in and chairing committees and working groups. In addition, Unicon has partnerships with both Canvas and Google. We help many platform and tool providers achieve LTI 1.3 compliance. I am interested to hear from the Pennsbury School District on their Canvas and Google integration. The integration using Google Assignments LTI that allows access to Google files and Google template files sounds compelling, especially in the K-12 space.
This is another session that interests me. Instructure’s recent purchase of Videri is a nice compliment to their already robust products. We are currently working with Instructure to onboard districts into Videri through the EdFi Assessment Starter Kit. It will be great for the Instructure community to learn more about Videri Analytics and how to use them. “Telling Your Data Story” is a phrase we use when we are working with our customers. It’s not enough just to capture and present the data to your key stakeholders. The data represents a story of your student’s journey, and the great part of reading and acting on the data is that YOU can impact how the story ends for your students.
InstructureCon is packed with a wonderful variety of sessions. If you haven’t signed up yet, it’s not too late. As an industry LMS leader, the InstructureCon agenda provides the breadth and depth of sessions from practical application to strategy and future planning. Institutions and organizations are continuing to find creative and innovative ways to service each of their customer types.
