What training do you recommend for new uPortal adopters?

Unicon recommends our Systems Administration Training, our uPortal Platform Training, and our Portlet Development for uPortal Training.
When Unicon installs uPortal, we package with that installation service a Systems Administration Training, a brief Web-based training to assist with handoff to your systems administrators, so that they can better understand what we installed, how we configured it, where it logs, and what ongoing care and feeding is required at a systems administration level. Certainly we recommend this training if you outsource to Unicon the installation and configuration of your uPortal instance.
Beyond that barest of systems-level training, Unicon offers two multi-day, on-site, hands-on training courses associated with uPortal. One is Platform Training for uPortal, a course on deploying, configuring, administering, and otherwise implementing uPortal. We highly recommend this training for all adopters of uPortal and include it in the standard package of uPortal implementation services.
Unicon also offers a Portlet Development Training for uPortal course, a Java portlet development training course which teaches the Java Portlet API and offers some hands-on exercises in portlet development and deployment. We highly recommend this course as well if you have any staff who will be developing portlets using Java or who need to understand other Java portlets, e.g. additional Java portlets you will be installing in your uPortal instance.
The uPortal Platform Training and Portlet Development Training courses are available ala carte and are sometimes offered co-located with and immediately before or after Jasig conferences. The Systems Administration Training is typically packaged with Unicon's uPortal installation and configuration service. All of these services are available packaged together (with a significant package discount).
Beside our standard training offerings, Unicon delivers custom training and mentoring. Some of our most successful projects have involved collaboration, co-development, and working together with uPortal adopters to make their projects soar and their staff ever more confident and productive on the platform.
While Cooperative Support for uPortal isn't training, we do answer questions and provide assistance with understanding uPortal through support cases in that program, and so we highly recommend you enroll in Cooperative Support and enjoy SLA-driven access to uPortal experts ongoingly. An affordable Developer SLA allows you to include Cooperative Support from the very beginnings of your work with uPortal.
