Software Test Engineer

Job Description:

Primary

• Perform black box and automation testing.
• Document results of functional/performance tests.
• Use internal bug tracking and test case management system.
• Work with development teams to test regular releases of product.
• Produce release notes and test plans. Participate in software release cycles.
• Attend daily and weekly status meetings.

Secondary

• Troubleshoot bugs and issues, answer functional questions related to product.
• Modify and develop new test scripts.

Education and Work Experience

• BS + 2 years experience in IT or MS in Math, Science or Engineering fields.
• Experience in software testing, with a focus on enterprise software testing a big plus.
• Experience or education in performance analysis a big plus

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Good verbal and written communication skills and performs basic black box testing by executing test scripts for a product.
• Demonstrates the ability to isolate bugs, write detailed bug reports and verify and regression test bugs.
• Includes documentation duties such as drafting or updating test scripts for a carefully defined product and/or writing test specifications.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

• Highly Desirable: Knowledge of testing software, particularly Mercury Test Suite and/or open source tools such as JMeter or Grinder.
• Linux or Unix skills.
• Release cycle experience a plus.
