How do I change the RedDotUser password?

If you want to change the password for RedDotUser or if you are getting an error that RedDotUser cannot log in, please follow these steps to give the correct password to RedDotUser.

Go to the the RedDot Server and right click my computer -> Manage -> Users and Groups -> and retype the password for RedDotUser. By default it's "reddot*1".

Now check the DCOM settings on the RedDot Server and the RedDotUser password as these are probably causing the conflict.

Go to -> Start - Run - Type in dcomcnfg

On the applications Tab-> Go to each of the RedDot5 Applications one by one and click Properties.

Within Properties check the Identity of each one.

If the Identity is Launching User, leave it as Launching User.

If the Identity is "This User", change it to RedDotUser and retype the correct RedDotUser Password.

Go through each one and make sure this is set correctly. A reboot is necessary after making these changes.

While in the dcomcnfg settings, go to the Default Security Tab and make sure that on the 3 different permissions (Default Access, Default Launch, and Default Access) that IUSER_Computername, IWAM_Computername, RedDot Group, RedDotUser, and Local Admin, and Admin group are all listed with full rights. These same users should also have full rights on the RedDot5 directory and propogated on down.

Next

- Go to the COM Objects (Component Services/COM+ objects on you adminitrative tools). There you will find 3 com objects for RedDot.

- Go to the indentity for each of those objects and put the RedDotUser password there.

Reboot.
