Why am I experiencing errors in my custom channel following the upgrade to Academus 2.0?

Users may experience errors in custom channels utilizing the group API following the upgrade to Academus 2.0.  If the custom channel was hard coded to use the local individual group service the user might experience errors.  To avoid these errors the custom channel should reference the group API rather than being hard coded to a particular group service instance.
