How do I maintain my location within an external site?

To clarify the question, for example if a user is in the channel created for Single Sign On to the universities existing online Student Information System, then leaves that tab to go check email, returns to the SIS tab - the system relogs them in and starts over instead of going to where the user just left off. How can one control this?

Unfortunately, the functionality described above cannot not currently be supported in a tab within the uPortal framework. However, one work around for users in encountering this issue is to detach the channel in question. This allows them to maintain their location in the detached window - while continuing to use the other portal features.
