Congratulations to Fluid on the Fluid 0.8 Release

I write to congratulate the Fluid Project on the release of Fluid Infusion 0.8, featuring the Fluid Skinning System.

I'm looking forward to the Jasig conference in a week showcasing progress of including Fluid Infusion features in the upcoming uPortal 3.1 release as well as discussion of how to bring more Fluid to bear on the user experience needs of higher education open source web applications.

I repost here verbatim Colin Clark's post on the jasig-ue email list announcing this release, in the interest of helping to get the word out about this incremental release of this excellent software project:

The Fluid Project is pleased to announce the final release of Fluid Infusion 0.8, a new release featuring our first production release of the Fluid Skinning System, a preview of User Interface Options, and many bug fixes.

This is the last major release before Fluid 1.0. Coming in March.

Fluid Infusion is a collection of rich, reusable, accessible user interface components built for the Web. These components have been designed by a cross-disciplinary team and thoroughly tested for usability and accessibility. By incorporating Fluid components into your web application's user interface, you will make your application easier to use by more people. Easier to use means happier users.

Andrew Petro

After graduating with a B.S. in Computer Science from Yale University in 2004, Andrew stayed on to serve his alma mater as a casual systems programmer with the Technology & Planning group. His interests include automated software testing, application frameworks, and electronic security. Projects in which Andrew has been involved include the Central Authentication Service, YaleInfo Portal (Yale's uPortal implementation). and the Jasig uPortal project. Andrew currently serves on the Jasig CAS steering committee, has been the release engineer for uPortal, and has been published in the Communications of the Association for Computing Machinery on the topic of electronic voting. In spring 2006 Andrew joined Unicon full time, serving roles since then including technical lead and Cooperative Support developer.
