Academus 2.1 aligns your portal with opensource uPortal 2.6
Unicon is making available the changes to uPortal itself present in Academus 2.1 to the uPortal opensource project for inclusion in uPortal 2.6. This is intended to re-align Academus and uPortal making uPortal development, conversation, insight, and support more applicable to Academus instances. While you will continue to benefit from Unicon Academus support and access to Unicon developers, you will be more empowered than ever before to supplement that support with self-service activities in the JA-SIG uPortal community.
Academus 2.1 support will be offered under the exciting new Unicon Cooperative Support Program
In keeping with improved alignment of the Academus software with opensource uPortal, Academus support after June 2006 will align better with uPortal support. A model of bundled hours along with opportunity to purchase additional hours of support helps to align the level and amount of service provided with each institution's local needs. Institutions needing only pointed support on rare issues will be able to control support costs and even apply efforts to directed development of the platform. Institutions needing broader or more thorough support will be able to scale up support activities as needed. In general Academus customers will be empowered to obtain from Unicon the support they need and to forgo support that they do not need.
